A Day of Laughter and Learning: Has2Bhappy Visits the Black Country Living Museum
A Journey Back in Time
Our latest outing took us to the Black Country Living Museum, an immersive open-air museum that brings the history of the West Midlands to life. We travelled together by coach—an exciting part of the day in itself, filled with music, chatter, and a growing sense of anticipation. For many, simply being on the road together is a chance to relax, socialise, and enjoy the journey as much as the destination.
Upon arriving, we were transported back over a hundred years, walking cobbled streets, exploring old shops, and stepping inside historical homes and workplaces. The museum gave us a vivid window into what life was like in the past, sparking curiosity, conversation, and lots of questions from our group.
Smiles, Stories, and Social Moments
Everywhere you looked, there were smiles. Whether we were watching traditional blacksmithing in action, peeking into a vintage schoolroom, or enjoying old-fashioned sweets from the 1930s-style sweet shop, there was a palpable sense of wonder. We even took a ride on an old tram, much to everyone’s delight!
Importantly, this trip wasn’t just about having fun—it was also about building friendships and creating a sense of belonging. For many in our group, days like this are a powerful way to connect with others, build confidence, and feel part of a wider community.
Learning That Feels Like Play
The day was full of informal learning. From understanding how people lived and worked in the Black Country during the Industrial Revolution, to seeing tools and crafts of the past in action, everyone walked away with new insights. It’s this kind of experiential learning—hands-on, engaging, and full of stories—that makes our trips so meaningful.
